Grand piano
The grand piano is a piano that has a horizontal case in the shape of a bird's wing (a triangle) with the keyboard set in the shorter side.
Upright piano
The upright piano is a vertical piano whose case is almost entirely located under the keyboard, making the instrument shorter than its predecessor by half, or more.

Square piano
The square piano is a piano that has a horizontal, rectangular or polygonal, case with the keyboard set in the long side.

Hybrid
Hybrid pianos blend characteristics of string instruments and attributes of the pump organ or the self-playing pianola.

Vertical piano
The vertical piano is a piano that has a vertical frame whose greater part is located above the keyboard. Depending on the shape of the frame, different names are used, including: giraffe piano, pyramid piano, lyre piano, bookcase piano, etc.
