Description: pyramid rosewood veneered. Straight-, double-, triple-strung, composite frame with five metal stress bars and capo tasto bar for the highest register, English double escapement action with overdampers

Inscriptions: on the keyboard cover inlaid in brass: Par Brevet Erard à Paris; on the soundboard: Par Brevet d’Invention / Erard à Paris; inside the case on the left (16947); the same number pressed on the keyboard frame, key levers and other parts; on the side of the C1 key lever  pressed: Sommer / [penciled] (243); inside keyboard table to the right penciled illegible signature; on the case beams chalked: Erard 82498(?)

Measurements: height 330 (930), width 1310, depth 2050 mm

Keyboard compass, stops: C1-a4 – 6⅔ octaves, two pedals – una corda and dampers
